Peace of Mind, a road to Happiness.

Image
When is the mind peaceful? When there is desire but not craving. When you have important goals but they are not making you restless. There are failures but you learn from them instead of regretting. When the journey towards your goal is as enjoyable as the feeling of accomplishment once you get there. When you are completely at ease with yourself and the place you are in, in your life. What takes away peace? Whenever we encounter negative emotions like jealousy, hatred, anger, etc. they take away our peace of mind instantly. An uncontrollable desire for something leaves feeling unhappy till we get it. Regret over the past leaves us feeling sad & Anxiety about the future leaves us feeling worried. We cannot experience peace in either case. Simple Ways to Increase Your Peace of Mind # Accept things that are beyond your control. # Trust yourself for your abilities to deal with challenges whenever they arise. Let go of your anxiety and worry. # Learn to have fun and enjoy your journe

Take the Enjoyment Challenge to feel Happier.

One of our clients gave us a talent search assignment with screening criteria of finding students who have scored good marks across all subjects and not just 1 or 2 of their favorite ones. When asked why do they need to have good marks even in the subjects that they won't need during their job here, she asked why should I hire someone who doesn't work hard when he or she finds it boring. Any work, even software programming can get boring at times. I don't want to hire someone who only wants to do fun stuff but somebody who can have fun while doing any kind of stuff. Is that even possible, I started wondering. I started looking around at people who are really successful and are at top of their field and realized that these people have embraced everything that they need to do to be there which includes things which others may consider boring, be it an athlete exercising for fitness or a CEO analyzing MIS for performance tracking and analysis or CFO facing audits for complia

The three grand essentials to Happiness

Image
“Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” – Joseph Addison An empty mind is a devil's workshop. When we have nothing worthwhile to do, our mind starts wandering around. Many times we end up recollecting something that we did not like in our past or we start imagining a future that we are anxious or worried about. In either case, we end up losing our peace of mind and happiness. To stay in the flow state or the state of complete engagement with the present we need to be occupied in doing something that holds our attention in such a way that we even lose the track of time. When I am writing an article on topics related to happiness, I usually find myself in such a state. I am sure you would also have your preferences for activities that help you feel completely engaged and happy.  Love is a very beautiful and powerful emotion. We are always eager to sacrifice our time, money, comfort, and even life for someth

OPTIMISM is a Happiness Magnet

OPTIMISM is a Happiness Magnet. If you stay POSITIVE, Good things & Good people will be drawn to you. - Mary Lou Retton Optimism is hopefulness and confidence about the future or the success of something. It is a mental attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of some specific endeavor, or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable. Researchers have found that an optimistic worldview carries advantages such as Superior Health, Greater Achievement, Persistence, Emotional Health, Increased Longevity & Less Stress.  Pessimism, on the other hand, is much more common; pessimists are more likely to give up in the face of adversity or to suffer from depression. The good news is that you can learn & improve your optimism. Learned optimism is the idea in positive psychology that a talent for joy, like any other, can be cultivated. Seligman's process of learning optimism consists of a simple method to train a new way of responding to adversity.

Which way are you looking?  On one side I see my achievements and on the other, I see my failures. On one side I see my strengths and on the other, I see my shortcomings. On one side I see how blessed I am and on the other, I see what I don't have. Look at the brighter side of your life and you will find happiness. Wishing you more happiness every day.
